What a silly monkey! NFT of Bored Ape sells for $3,000 instead of $300,000

NFT’s are growing in popularity day by day and if you are a regular listener of our podcast, you will know it is certainly something that has sparked the interest of the Lawdit team.

We all have a collective giggle at this recent NFT story where the owner accidently marketed it for $297,000 under its market value.

The Bored Ape NFT is a piece of digital art and with a limited run of 10,000 pieces each unique, it was in high demand.

That demand sky rocketed when the one of the pieces of art owned by maxnaut was put on sale for $3,000 instead of $300,000. Before he could amend the error, the piece of artwork had been sold and there was nothing that could be done to resolve it. This is because the transaction took place with cryptocurrency and therefore doesn’t afford the normal banking protections to resolve mistakes.

Let this be a lesson to us all, check your work before pressing the button, the consequences could be disastrous.
