Australian tennis player Nick Kyrgios had an interesting experience in the Wimbledon’s Mens Final – but not for the reasons you may think.
For those who didn’t see the match, during the game, Kyrgios complained to the Umpire about a spectator’s behaviour. He received a code violation for swearing after a spectator called out before a second serve.
Following this, he asked the umpire to have the woman “who looks like she’s had about 700 drinks bro” ejected.
This woman was medical law specialist Anna Palus. Palus was briefly removed from Centre Court, even though she states she had only had two drinks.
Due to the backlash received, Palus has now instructed legal representatives to file a claim for defamation against the tennis star.
Palus, commenting on the claim stated
“During the course of the final, Nick Kyrgios made a reckless and entirely baseless allegation against me. Not only did this cause considerable harm on the day, resulting in my temporary removal from the arena, but Mr Kyrgios’s false allegation was broadcast to, and read by, millions around the world, causing me and my family very substantial damage and distress.”
The claim is only new so more is come but at the moment 15-0 to Palus – how will Kyrgios return.
