Samuel brings with him not only a strong academic foundation but also a genuine passion for Intellectual Property (IP) law—a passion that began in a place many of us wouldn’t expect: YouTube.
From YouTube Curiosity to Legal Career
Samuel first became interested in IP law when he stumbled upon an unusual world of copyright claims and infringement notices on YouTube. Like many law students, he was familiar with the big-picture idea of protecting rights—but when he started digging into real-world copyright disputes, licensing arguments, and the processes behind content takedowns, he realised the field was both complex and deeply impactful.
That curiosity quickly turned into something more serious. As his degree progressed, he found himself gravitating more and more towards Intellectual Property modules and seeking out career opportunities that would give him hands-on exposure in the sector. Which is exactly what led him to Lawdit.
What It’s Really Like at Lawdit (and Trademark Room)
In the podcast, Samuel reflects on what it’s been like joining a fast-paced IP and commercial law firm. He talks about the steep learning curve of adapting from academic study to client work and describes the difference between reading about the law and actually applying it in practice.
He also shines a light on Trademark Room, Lawdit’s dedicated trademark registration service. Through his work across both teams, Samuel has already started helping clients protect their brands—gaining real-world insight into the processes of filing marks, handling objections, and liaising with Intellectual Property Offices.
