It’s the courts for Oscar winning filmmaker Asghar Farhadi in Iran who has been accused of stealing the idea for his latest film.
The claim has been filed by a former student of Farhadi who claims that the idea and premise for the film ‘A Hero’ has been taken from her documentary ‘All Winners All Losers’.
This has been refuted by Farhadi who claimed he researched the film completely independently a long time ago.
Azadeh Masihzadeh has filed the claim in the US where Farhadi had filed a counterclaim for defamation.
While the counterclaim has been dismissed, there is no ruling on the plagiarism claim as of yet.
It will be interesting to see how this matter develops and whether this has an impact Farhadi’s success in the future.
