Illegal Distribution of Music: File Sharers Plead Guilty

Two men are currently awaiting sentencing, having pleaded guilty to copyright infringement charges in a private prosecution instigated by British trade body BPI.

Kane Robinson and Richard Graham were involved with the now-defunct Dancing Jesus website, where users would share links to infringing music files, many of which were leaked prior to mainstream commercial release. Robinson ran the website and pleaded guilty at the outset, whilst Graham was a prolific user and recently changed his plea to guilty.

The website was taken offline by United States Department for Homeland Security after it seized the server on which the website was hosted. It is understood that they then liaised with City of London Police’s Intellectual Property Crime Unit, who arrested both Robinson and Graham.

Both men will be sentenced on 10 November.
