Rapper Cardi B has successfully sued a YouTuber over defamatory comments and been awarded nearly $1 million in damages.
Music superstar Cardi B took legal action against youtuber Latasha Kebe, known online as Tasha K. Cardi B’s claim states that Keve made a number of false accusations on their gossip site UnWineWithTashaK which has one million subscribers.
These accusations were made from 2018 and accused Cardi B of a number of things, including being a prostitute.
The rapper’s legal team made it clear that the comments and videos on Kebe’s channel caused the singer “embarrassment, humiliation, mental anguish, and emotional distress”.
The Court agreed that the comments made were defamatory and awarded Kebe to pay a total of £927,437.50 to Cardi B in damages.
The matter is not yet over as the parties will be back to court to confirm if further damages and legal fees should be paid too.
