Artist raises copyright claim against Chris Brown

An artist with over 130,000 Instagram followers has taken to the platform to express his disappointment to find his work used without his permission.

Don Mupasi, who creates videos as part of his art was surprised to receive messages that his video had been noticed by music star Chris Brown and reposted on Browns page.

This was the first the artist had heard from it and was disappointed to find the work had been reposted without any indication that he was the copyright owner of the work.

The work had been made available for free on the artists website, however a credit still needs to be given to indicate how the work belongs to.

As a music artist, Brown will know about the rules on copyright protection and therefore has no excuse to why the work wasn’t properly credited.

This scenario is something we see on a regular basis, just because a work is free to download does not mean it is yours to do whatever you want with it.
