A few weeks ago, Adidas sued Marc Jacobs for infringement of Intellectual Property in respect of the latter’s use of four stripes om its clothing (not three) running down the arms.
In a complaint filed with the U.S. District Court in Oregon, Adidas accused Marc Jacobs of trade mark infringement and unfair competition and deceptive trade practices, mainly because the brand with the three stripes (as its logo says) is clearly a famous brand and one which consumers will always associate with an Adidas product. Adidas concluded with “…this is particularly damaging with respect to those people who perceive a defect or lack of quality in Marc JacobsÂs products”
                 Â
That’s mainly the reason why Adidas is looking for millions in compensation and, of course, an injunction…and that is why Adidas will win!Â
