Nintendo and Microsoft are being sued by a small Texas company called Anascape over alleged infringement of twelve patents belonging to the company which were registered between 1999 and 2006
The patents all relate game controllers and are reported to cover most of the aspects commonly used in todayÂs controllers.
Anascape is reportedly seeking an injunction against Nintendo and Microsoft or in the alternative an enforced licence fee. It is also said to be seeking an account of the profits derived from sales involving the controllers and by association use of its patents and damages.
The claim is only in its very early stages so it has a way to go yet. However the company has previously taken action against Sony in relation to a similar infringement action. Last year the judge in that case held in AnascapeÂs favour, reportedly ordering Sony to pay $90.7 million dollars in damages.
