Patents In Computer Programs

The High Court in the UK has increased the protection available for computer implemented inventions.

The law clearly states that computer programs ‘as such’ cannot be protected, but the Court has interpreted that this does not mean that all computer programs cannot be protected. If an inventive method performed by a computer program could be protected by a patent then the program itself should be protected via the same patent.
