Nokia is planning to make handsets, bearing functions of TV and Web searching, in co-ordination with Samsung to develop interoperable products based on the DVB-H (Digital Video Broadcast-Handheld) standard for mobile TV. The company is also scheduling to use OMA BCAST or Open Mobile Alliance Broadcast Services Enabler Suite which outlines ways for developing an advance program guide, support for multiple broadcast technologies, content and service protections using the SIM (subscriber identity module) card or digital rights management. Moreover, Nokia is also promoting new applications to make surfing the mobile internet to create Widgets (lightweight Web applications used for collecting data on weather, stock quotes, flight schedules etc.) for mobile phones.
