More Patent Infringement Claims for Wii

Nintendo is being sued again over alleged patent infringement in relation to the chips used in its Wii console.

The suit was filed on 7 June in the Texas Eastern District Court by a company called Lonestar Inventions. The suit is said to be based on a 1993 owned by Lonestar in relation to technology which enhances the performance of semi conductors.

The company has previously settled similar cases against Texas Instruments and Marvell Semiconductor. In addition to this two days before it filled the action against Nintendo, it also filed suit against the Eastman Kodak Company for patent infringement.

Nintendo was sued by another company last year for alleged patent infringement in relation to the trigger mechanism for the motion sensor in the controller but the case was later dropped.
