Expanding the empire: Rihanna files trademark for ‘Fenty Skin’

The powerhouse make-up and lingerie Fenty brand is growing. On March 25th, Rihanna filed an application with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) to register “Fenty Skin”, giving indication that the singer might be extending her Fenty Beauty line.

Since its release in September 2017, Fenty Beauty has become one of the most popular new make up brands with countless sold out launches under its belt. Now, the trendy line is seemingly getting ready to make its mark on the skin-care world, too. According to the USPTO, the application to register “Fenty Skin” is to apply to a line of “medicated and non-medicated skincare, soap, body care and personal care products (excluding colour cosmetics, perfume and other fragrance-only products), and related accessories such as kits, tools and applicators.

This, however, isn’t the first time that rumours on the singer expanding the Fenty line have swirled. In 2017, one eagle-eyed fan found a skin-care filing application under the name, “House of Fenty”. The mark that was registered under cosmetics such as “creams, lotions, gels, toners, and cleansers is still live but seemingly unused.

According to Forbes, the beauty industry in the USA is currently worth a staggering $445 billion – some of which the singer undoubtedly wants a chunk of.

It is yet to be confirmed whether the application for the mark has been approved.
