As from today the Patents County Court has been renamed the Intellectual Property Enterprise Court (IPEC) and has been reformed to become a specialist listing in the Chancery Division of the High Court.
The IPO stated on its website that “changing the name of the court to the Intellectual Property Enterprise Court better reflects its jurisdiction and clarifies to users that it covers all intellectual property claims. The reconstitution consists of moving the court from the county court system to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Chancery Division of the High Court, where it will retain its cost rules and financial limits.”
The court is also being brought under the wing of the Chancery Division of the High Court of England and Wales. Various transitional provisions and savings are also implemented as a result of the changes announced in the Civil Procedure (Amendment No. 7) Rules 2013. – See more at: http://www.kilburnstrode.com/resources/news/2013-8-23-patents-county-court-to-be-renamed-as-intellectual-property-enterprise-court#sthash.tpI57Qt2.dpuf
