Blogger wins case for Unfair Dismissal

Catherine Sanderson, the English woman sacked by accountancy firm Dixon Wilson for blogging has won her case for unfair dismissal.

Ms Sanderson ran the blog while working in the accountancy firm. When the firm was told of her blog she was sacked for gross misconduct.

A picture of Ms Sanderson was on the blog and whilst she argued that the firm could not be identified from her blog, the accountants were of the view that a picture of her on the blog was sufficient enough to identify the firm. Further the blog did mention her work, without identifying the firm where she worked.

The tribunal awarded Ms Sanderson a year’s salary plus costs.
