BBC Show Highlights the Importance of Intellectual Property

Popular BBC2 show ‘Dragons Den’ highlights just how crucial intellectual property is.

Invariably, the first question which the panel asks when approached for investment in a company or idea is ‘do you own the rights in this product/ business’.

It is surprising the number of individuals which ignore the importance of intellectual property. If you do not own something how can you keep it?

Countless times the ‘Dragons’ have declared the famous catchphrase ‘I’m out’ upon realisation that the person before them does not own the intellectual property in the product.

Regardless of your intention to appear on this TV show, one thing is for certain, every company needs to protect its name/ brands/ products etc.

Too many people ignore this and leave themselves open to attack from other undertakings which do positively protect and assert its rights.
