Due to the growing demand on the Island – we have decided to open an office there (in Newport). Two of our solicitors, Michael and Mark, live on the Isle of Wight.
From a business perspective the Island has been awarded EU Area Aid Status which makes the northern half of the Island eligible to seek EU structural funds. Incidentally the island was heavily in favour of Brexit which does make one wonder how this will affect such funding!
We believe that there are some very impressive businesses on the Island but who will also benefit from our extensive experience of commercial based matters. We are confident that our practice can provide support which is above and beyond what is already available on the island. However, we also recognise that island residents need top quality legal advice at a cost effective and friendly rate and this is what we are prepared to offer.
There are a number of matters that are very important to individuals and need a local solicitor to work closely with them. With our expertise and access to a team both on the island and in Southampton, there are very little matters that we are not in a position to work on, such as property (including commercial property), litigation, wills and family law. If there is a situation that we are not able to act, we have a database full of associates that we can call on to take on your matter.
“All the above is all well and good but we also know the island well. There is always someone who knows someone who has a friend who can get you in with a great lawyer on the island with a great reputation, that can help with whatever your matter may be, but more often than not it will be at a premium cost”
As part of Lawdit’s wide-reaching Island service, we are now offering a weekly legal clinic in our Newport Office. Michael and the team will give free, unbiased advice on legal issues, signposting Islanders where appropriate to other specialists or helping them to decide how to deal with problems they face.
The clinics are held on Tuesday evenings between 6-9pm and will be by appointment only. Please give us a call at your convenience to secure your spot.
Following this, if action is required, we will offer island individuals and businesses a reduced rate moving forward.
